MultiGreens – an In-Depth Look

There aren’t many of us who get all the greens our body requires each day. This power packed supplement supports the nervous system, cardiovascular system, and the hormonal glands of the endocrine system. It contains 5 green super-foods including alfalfa, eleuthero root, barley, Pacific kelp and spirulina; some people call it the “green drink in a pill”!

Let’s Take a Closer Look at MultiGreens

Choline (or in this case, Choline Bitartrate) is a vitamin-like essential nutrient and a methyl donor involved in many physiological processes, including normal metabolism. It is also important for cell membranes and the production of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, which has a role in memory and muscle control.

Bee pollen is part of this supplement as well and is a great source of protein, vitamins and minerals.

Barley Grass contains beta carotene, vitamins B1, B2, B6, B12, pantothenic acid, and folic acid. Minerals present include potassium, calcium, iron, phosphorus, and magnesium.

Spirulina is a type of blue-green algae that is rich in protein, vitamins, minerals, carotenoids, and antioxidants that can help protect cells from damage. It contains nutrients, including B complex vitamins, beta-carotene, vitamin E, manganese, zinc, copper, iron, selenium, and gamma linolenic acid (an essential fatty acid). *People with a metabolic condition called phenylketonuria (PKU) should avoid taking spirulina.

Alfalfa contains fiber and a substance called saponins, which are thought to bind with cholesterol in the body. grows very deep and is rich in minerals. Alfalfa is also naturally high in many essential vitamins and minerals, including A, D, E, K, and even the full family of B vitamins; biotin, calcium, folic acid, iron, magnesium, potassium and many others, as well as being very high in protein.

Pacific Kelp, aka brown seaweed, contains high amounts of iodine, potassium, magnesium, calcium and iron, as well as vitamins, phytonutrients, amino acids, omega-3 fats and fiber, together relaying impressive health benefits that are hard to ignore.

Chinese healers have prized Eleuthero Root, also known as Siberian ginseng–for thousands of years. Though it’s not exactly a “true” ginseng, it possesses adaptogenic properties and has a well-established reputation as an energy enhancer and brain booster.

MultiGreens Oil Blend

Young Living has added the essential oils of rosemary, melissa, lemon, and lemongrass.  They assist with absorption of the other ingredients.

Rosemary essential oil is steam distilled from a perennial shrub with needle-like leaves that can remain evergreen in warmer climates. Its complex, woodsy aroma can help create an energizing environment and promote a sense of clarity.

Melissa essential oil comes from the melissa plant, which is also known as lemon balm and is part of the Lamiaceae—or mint—family. Melissa essential oil has a grassy, lemony scent that creates a pleasant, calming atmosphere. It can also be used for purification, cleansing and to create emotional balance.

Lemon essential oil is cold-pressed from the rinds of lemons, giving its aroma all the brightness of the freshly picked fruit. It is well known for its cleansing properties.

Lemongrass essential oil is distilled from the leaves and woody stalks of the lemongrass plant. Lemongrass is known for its purifying properties.

MultiGreen’s Amino Acid Complex

MultiGreens also contains an amino acid complex including L-Arginine, L-Cysteine and L-Tyrosine.

L-Arginine  changes into nitric oxide (NO). Nitric oxide is a powerful neurotransmitter that helps blood vessels relax and may help improve circulation. L-Cysteine is able to fulfill several important functions in the human body due to its specific structure including sulfur and contributes significantly to the general well-being. L-Tyrosine is necessary to produce the brain chemicals that assist with regulating pain sensitivity and appetite. Also, this amino acid helps the body to respond appropriately to stress. Tyrosine is also required for healthy thyroid, adrenal, and pituitary gland function.
